My artistic vocabulary and vision has emerged and developed in recent years after a lifetime of sketching and watercolour painting. I now translate landscapes and rural life into an interesting visual language of ruralism painting. Bringing colour, tone and mark making together as my style especially now in the medium of oil and wax.

The North Yorkshire Moors is a constant inspiration for me, every time I stop to make drawings and sketches, I see everyday views in a new light. Looking at the countryside fascinates me returning to my studio high above the picturesque Esk Valley, to create the entire scene, unifying the experience and feelings of the place into finished atmospheric painting.
